Oasis Bible Training Center Announces Spring Quarter 2026
A Renewed Season of Spiritual Awakening in the Finger Lakes
Finger Lakes Region, NY — As spring returns to the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York, the earth begins to awaken. Flowers slowly emerge from the soil, fresh green leaves return to the trees, and the lakes begin to warm beneath the returning sun.
For Steve and Diane Porter, founders of Oasis Bible Training Center, the arrival of spring also signals the beginning of a new season of spiritual renewal as the school prepares to launch its Spring 2026 quarter.
Founded in 2018, Oasis Bible Training Center was established as a place where believers could grow in the Word of God while encountering the living presence of the Holy Spirit. The school continues to serve students from the Finger Lakes region and beyond who desire a deeper walk with Christ.
A Season of New Life
“As spring arrives in the beautiful Finger Lakes, the flowers begin to bloom, the leaves turn green, and the lakes slowly begin to warm,” Porter said.
“There is something about this season that reminds us of what God does in the human heart. Just as creation awakens in the spring, there is also something beautiful that begins to awaken in the spirit as we begin a new quarter at Oasis.”
A Legacy of Encouragement
This new season also carries special meaning for Porter following the recent passing of his father, affectionately known as Dad Porter.
“Some of my father’s last words to me while he was still able to communicate were about Oasis Bible Training Center,” Porter recalled. “He expressed such love and tenderness toward the school and reminded me that we needed to keep it going.”
Porter said those words have remained deeply in his heart as the school prepares to welcome students again.
A School of the Spirit
Since its founding, Oasis Bible Training Center has sought to cultivate what Porter describes as a “school of the Spirit.”
“We believe the Lord has commissioned us to have a school of the Spirit,” Porter said. “Although we are small at the present time, we carry a big dream. We are believing God for the right administrative help and for the right people to come alongside us so the school can flourish.”
The vision of the school is not simply academic, but deeply spiritual—creating an environment where teaching, prayer, and the presence of God work together to transform lives.
Influenced by the Presence of God
Porter said much of his vision for Oasis was shaped by his own life-changing experience as a student at Pinecrest Bible Training Center in the early 1990s.
“I remember how the presence of God would come into the classroom at Pinecrest,” Porter said. “There was a beauty of the Lord that rested upon the students. It marked my life in such a profound way.”
“Even now, decades later—since 1993—I can honestly say my life has been transformed through those encounters with God.”
A Season of Prayer and Expectation
Looking ahead to the upcoming quarter, Porter said he and his wife Diane are approaching the season with deep anticipation.
“We have a deep anticipation for our classes this spring,” Porter said. “Diane and I are praying and fasting for the lives of our students to be touched by God.”
The classes are designed to help believers deepen their relationship with Christ and discover the calling God has placed on their lives.
A Faith-Based School
Oasis Bible Training Center continues to operate as a faith-based school, welcoming students regardless of financial ability.
“If someone feels a gentle call to join our classes, we would love to have them come,” Porter said. “And if someone simply wishes to audit the classes, they are welcome as well.”
“There is no charge for our classes,” he added. “We are a faith-based school trusting God to take care of all our needs.”
